Getting Ready

From Gerry:

In February of 2007 Lee and Judi decided they would try out Judi's new Toyota Avalon. One thing led to another and the "try out" enlarged to a very long roadtrip to see America. I was thrilled to receive a phone call from Lee inviting me to go with them. And so we began....

We each bring special things to this adventure. Judi's new car is not the least of these. Lee's love of reading and organizing information serves to set the route and the pace. I got a new laptop computer for making reservations, checking National Parks and Memorials, and setting up this blog.

Many long phone conversations, new books, internet searches, and telling everyone we meet about our plans has brought us to June 2, 2007 in Watsonville. My dining room looks like the command center of the Pentagon. AAA is much in evidence with maps and books, highlighter pens are flying and best of all we laugh, and laugh, and laugh! The hardest part of this adventure may be cutting down our time to a few months. Given our interests the trip could take years!

The next couple of months will be filled with more planning, packing and repacking, taking care of bills, doctors appointments and hopefully departing on or about August 25. Wish us luck!
